König vom Bayerwald

54 kilometers / 2600 meters of altitude

The route leads from the start at the market square in Lam, after a short flat section, steeply uphill to Eck. Here is the first aid station + time control (KM 9, V1/K1). Here it is time to refuel, because the forthcoming section up to V2 will be the longest and toughest section of this race. On these 15 kilometers it goes on some very difficult trails on one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the Bavarian Forest, along the Goldsteig. This path leads over 10 summits, all over 1000m, ending up to the top of the race - the Großer Arber at 1456m. Shortly after the summit, at KM 24.4 is the second aid station V2. A downhill of 700 vertical meters along the Kleiner Arbersee and down to the Reischbrücke and from there back up to the cross-country skiing center Scheiben, where the next aid station and time control (KM 37 V3/K2) awaits the participants. The ascent to the Zwercheck leads over heavily rooted and blocked trails. The reward for this is the gigantic view of the entire route that has been in your legs so far. After the very steep downhill, a slightly sloping gravel road of 4.7 km follows, on which you can make a good progress before the final ascent to the Großer Osser demands the last reserves again. At the mountain rescue hut, shortly after the summit, at KM 47.2 is the aid station V4. On the last kilometers downhill to the finish, the participants can expect what makes trail runners' hearts beat faster - not because of too much effort, but because of the feeling of happiness on one of the most beautiful trails in the Lamer Winkel.
